Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in March 9 election, Nyesom Wike, has taken an early lead on Tuesday as election results collation resumed in Port Harcourt.
Wike has won 10 out of 17 local government areas already announced by collation officers.
The governor leads with 249,397 votes while his closest challenger, Biokpomabo Awara of African Alliance Congress (AAC), trails behind with 108,886 votes in the results collated so far from 10 LGAs.
The LGAs already announced are Port Harcourt City, Ikwere, Andoni, Oyibo, Eleme, Opobo-Nkoro, Bonny, Okirika, Akuku-Toru and Omuma.
Results from seven other LGAs are still being expected.
