Leicester City new signing, Wilfred Ndidi, says he is impressed by his new teammates after partaking in his first training session on Thursday.

Ndidi, 20, sealed a £15m move to the Premier League champions from Genk on Tuesday but was granted work permit just two days after.

The versatile midfielder who is now in the fray to make his debut against Everton in the FA Cup on Saturday is still finding hard to believe the kind of reception he received in his first day at work.

“I feel good. My team-mates are nice people and they have welcomed me, so I’m happy,” Ndidi told LCFC TV.

“My first impression was ‘wow’. I trained and it was really good because it was really high intensity. I feel I can learn a lot here.

“Claudio welcomed me and then he explained to me how the team and everything worked, which I’ve sometimes seen on TV.”

Ndidi is now aiming to get a good understanding of how games in the Premier League unfold, as he prepares to ply his trade in one of the most highly-regarded leagues in the world.

He added: “I want to just try and understand how the game flows in the Premier League and then work towards that.

“For now, I am the kind of player that plays for the team. I try to win the balls for the team – that is one of my main attributes. I have to achieve a lot here.”

Ndidi’s new manager, Claudio Ranieri, was full of praise for his latest acquisition who he feels offers something different from ex-Foxes cult hero, N’Golo Kante.

“He is a very impressive player with great future,” the Italian said in a press conference on Thursday.

“He is tall and jumps very well for the headers, moves the ball quickly and recovers the ball very well.

“We have followed him a lot and we hope he will very quickly impress the fans.

“He’s another kind of player (to Kante) – totally different. A lot of big teams wanted him, but he prefers to come with us to improve.”
