An 81-year-old man from Warwickshire named after the famous poet, writer and playwright William Shakespeare has become the second person to get a Covid-19 vaccine outside of a clinical trial.
Margaret Keenan also from Warwickshire made history by becoming the first person in the world to be given a jab.
Mr Shakespeare said he was “pleased” to be given the vaccine.
They were both given jabs at University Hospital in Coventry, according to the BBC.
About 800,000 doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine will be dispensed in the coming weeks in the UK.
The vaccine is given as two injections, 21 days apart, with the second dose being a booster. Immunity begins to kick in after the first dose but reaches its full effect seven days after the second dose.
