Actor and comedian Williams Uchemba has condemned the growing trend of men intentionally impregnating women without intending to marry them.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, Williams denounced this behaviour as a selfish and destructive act with far-reaching consequences.
He emphasised that this habit stems from a fear of commitment and a disdain for marriage.
According to Williams, such men prioritise their own desires over the well-being of their partners and children, ultimately leading to broken homes and a multitude of societal problems.
He said, “Hey guys, what’s this madness that we do now? Especially some of the young men I see now, what’s this stupidity?
“If you think you are screwing, you intentionally impregnate your girlfriend to have a kid because you don’t want to be committed to a woman and don’t like the idea of marriage.
“It is an idea from the pit of hell, and if you are planning to do such a thing, remove yourself from that madness because what you don’t know is you are not just destroying your life, but you’re also destroying the life of that child, who you might not be there to raise.”
The actor stressed that marriage is a sacred institution established by God, and disregarding its importance can have severe repercussions.
He warned that men who engage in this behaviour are not only ruining their own lives but also those of their children, who may suffer from absent parenting and emotional trauma.
“Majority of the problems of the world come from a broken home because there is a reason why God put marriage institutions there.
“You have no business getting someone pregnant because you have selfish reasons for not wanting to be committed to any woman. You’re a selfish person, and it will affect that child,” he added.
Williams also addressed women, particularly his colleagues in the entertainment industry, who intentionally have children out of wedlock.
He urged them to reconsider their actions, questioning whether their upbringing and values condone such behaviour.
The actor attributed this trend to the influence of Western culture and encouraged women to reject it.
