Singers Wizkid and Bloody Civilian have been recognised for their roles in Bob Marley: One Love (Music Inspired by the Film), which won Best Reggae Album at the 67th Grammy Awards on Sunday in Los Angeles.
Following the win, Bob Marley’s team took to Instagram late Monday to appreciate the artistes who contributed to the project, with Wizkid and Bloody Civilian among those acknowledged.
Wizkid recorded a version of ‘One Love,’ while Bloody Civilian delivered ‘Natural Mystic,: both offering fresh interpretations of Marley’s classics.
The 10-track album reinvents timeless songs such as ‘Exodus,’ ‘Waiting in Vain,’ ‘Three Little Birds,’ ‘One Love,’ ‘Redemption Song’ and ‘Is This Love.’
Other artistes featured on the album include Skip Marley, Bob Marley’s grandson, Grammy-winning R&B singer Daniel Caesar, country star Kacey Musgraves, singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez, soul artist Leon Bridges and reggae stars Farruko and Shenseea.
Bob Marley (1945–1981) was a Jamaican singer and songwriter who pioneered reggae music.
His songs, influenced by Rastafarian beliefs, promoted themes of unity, love and resistance against oppression.
Albums like Exodus, Legend and Rastaman Vibration cemented his legacy before his death from cancer at 36.
