Musician Ayodeji Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, has honored his late mother Jane Balogun whom he fondly calls Morayo, on her posthumous birthday.
In a heartfelt post on his X account on Thursday, Wizkid expressed deep emotions in his message, highlighting the void her absence has left in his life.
“Happy birthday love of my life! Miss you everyday. First one without you here feels unreal. Nothing makes sense without you mama! Life is empty without you.
“Continue to watch over us! My heart is broken forever! Love you, love you, love you MORAYO mi. Your smile is all a memory I will never forget. Your laugh! Your hugs and kisses. I miss you dearly!” he wrote.
In addition to his message, the singer shared a video of his mother, captioning the post, “Morayo lives on.”
Earlier this year, the ‘Essence’ hitmaker announced that his forthcoming album Morayo is dedicated to his mother.
Mrs Balogun died on August 18, 2023, in London.
Since her loss, Wizkid has been vocal about the profound impact her death has had on him.
Shortly after her death, the singer shared his grief on social media, stating, “Made idk days after I lost my mum. Life has been meaningless! But we dey. Sometimes you have to let everything go. Work with God.”
