Singer Ayodeji Balogun famously known as Wizkid has dropped his highly anticipated album, Morayo as a tribute to his late mother.
The album which marks his sixth studio release, came out on Friday under his own Starboy Entertainment and RCA Records.
The title Morayo—which translates to “I see joy” in Yoruba—carries deep personal significance, honouring his mother “Juliana Morayo Balogun”, who passed away in August 2023.
Wizkid had teased the album’s impact back in July writing, “Best album I ever made!! Now listen! It’s only up from here!” on social media, setting high expectations among fans.
The 16-track project is packed with star-studded collaborations and highlights Wizkid’s signature Afrobeat style.
It features previously released singles like ‘Piece of My Heart’ featuring Brent Faiyaz and ‘Kese (Dance),’ along with fresh tracks such as ‘Bad Girl”’with Asake, ‘Après Minuit’ featuring Tiakola, and ‘Bad For You’ with Jazmine Sullivan.
Morayo showcases Wizkid’s evolution as an artist, blending Afrobeat with global influences while paying homage to the memory of his mother.
The album’s release has already generated a buzz among fans and the wider music community.
