Award-winning singer Ayodeji Balogun has revealed plans for his new album while recounting his experience working with his colleague Tems.
Wizkid made this known in an interview with GQ on Wednesday.
“I am working on a new album, but I never like to be, like, in a rush. Sometimes it takes me a year, two years, to make an album. I always record in terms of albums, not just songs. I like to make music that way because it gives you a sense of direction.
“Well, in the next album, I’m just trying to enjoy myself with the music now, because of the reception from the fans for my last album,” he continues. I just keep evolving with the sound,” he said.
On working with Tems, Wizkid said: “You know, I’ve known Tems. I can’t even actually remember how we met, but I know I brought her out for one of my shows in Lagos. We had talked about working and I went back home to record.
“When I record at home, it’s like I have a crazy situation. I’ll be in a room with like 8, 10 producers, everyone’s got their rooms and we’re just making music. She came through to the hotel and we laid down the idea. It was just effortless. Just lay down the melodies, and she didn’t even think anything of it. She felt like we had to do another record, but I already knew we had magic.”
Tems was featured on Wizkid’s hit single ‘Essence’ which peaked at no 19 on billboard hot 100 and Shazam.
