Wizkid and Tems have made history as the first African song to bag nominations in three major categories and most nominated female African artiste respectively at the recently announced Soul Train Awards.
The excited singers shared the good news on Twitter on Wednesday.
Wizkid was nominated alongside Tems for Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Video of the Year, Best collaboration and Songwriter’s Award.
Tems also received an additional Best New Artist nomination, making her the most nominated female African in history for the categories.
The BET Soul Train Awards will air on November 28 on BET Network.
Since the release of their hit single ‘Essence’ the duo has continued to receive international recognition and has peaked at number 10 on Billboard hot 100.
‘Essence’ currently has 63 million streams on Spotify.
