Afro-pop star Wizkid has continued his 2021 winning streak after bagging the award for ‘Outstanding Music Video/Visual Album’ at the 2021 NAACP Image Awards for his collaboration with American singer Beyonce on the song ‘Brown Skin Girl’ off her Lion King: The Gift album.
The award was announced via a tweet by the organisers on Friday.
The tweet reads: “Congratulations to the 52nd #NAACPImageAwards winners in our Outstanding Recording categories! @theestallion @Beyonce, @Hit_Boy, @wizkidayo, @SAINtJHN, Blue Ivy Carter & @JheneAiko.”
This makes it the second time Wizkid is getting the prestigious award having won the ‘Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration’ category on the same song in 2020, becoming the first Nigerian artiste to win the award.
The NAACP Image Award is an annual awards ceremony presented by the US-based National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) to honour outstanding performances in film, television, music, and literature.
The same collaboration also won Wizkid a Grammy award for the Best Music Video at the 2021 Grammys.
