DJ Mampintsha, long-term boyfriend of South African singer, Wodumo, has been arrested by the police for allegedly assaulting the singer.
An Instagram live video showed the 24-year-old singer getting repeatedly beaten by South African Disc Jockey, DJ Mampintsha, on Monday.
South African based online magazine, iOL, reported that the disc jockey was arrested on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, and is expected to appear before a court soon.
South African police spokesperson, Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo, said on Tuesday that, “The suspect in the Babes Wodumo assault case has been arrested and is currently in police custody. He will be processed and taken to court soon.”
Reverend Welcome Simelane, the father of Wodumo revealed that his daughter is receiving treatment at a Durban hospital.
She was assaulted on Instagram live by her long-term boyfriend, DJ Mampintsha, in the early hours of Monday.
The now deleted video has sparked a fury of response by social media users, sending messages of support to Wodumo and criticizing her boyfriend.
