A 56-year-old woman, Omowumi Sarat, was on Thursday arraigned in an Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court in Ibadan for allegedly assaulting a man.
Sarat, whose address was not provided, was charged with conspiracy, assault, conduct likely to cause the breach of peace and stealing, to which she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp Elisha Tellang, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 4, at about 6.00 p.m., at Moniya, Ibadan.
Tellang alleged that the defendant and others at large assaulted Mr Lateef Ganiyu by hitting him with their fists, which caused him harm to his lips and nostrils.
He said the defendant also conducted himself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace by preventing Ganiyu’s tricycle from moving on the road.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant also made away with Ganiyu’s tricycle worth N1.2 million.
He said the offences contravened Sections 516, 355, 249(d) and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Moyosore Atanda, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until May 29 for a hearing.
