Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, has sounded another stern warning to the country’s top footballers moving to the Chinese Super League (CSL).
This isn’t far from the fact that the Asian nation is gradually becoming the haven for Nigerians with as many as seven currently plying their trade in the country.
Olympiacos striker, Brown Ideye, is the latest touted to join the likes of Mikel Obi, Odion Ighalo and Obafemi Martins in the CSL.
Rohr, a Franco-German who is steadily transforming Nigerian football, has however revealed he will accord more preference to the Europe-based stars.
“The Chinese league is not as backward as many thought, or it has moved forward from what it used to be,” Rohr told Owngoalnigeria.
“But Europe is still where I feel is best for players as the level is very high.
“We have to consider the players in competitive leagues before looking at the players in less competitive league, maybe three players from China would be ideal for our squad.”
The Super Eagles are scheduled to play two test games against Burkina Faso and Senegal in March in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers.
