Nigerians, like their counterparts from the rest of the world, are hoping for a favourable World Cup draw.
The Super Eagles will know their foes in a ceremony in Moscow, Russia, on Friday.
Having been placed in Pot 4, they could be drawn in the tournament’s group of death in the worst case scenario.
But Nigerians are praying to avoid such.
With the draw knocking on our doorstep, here are the nations from each pot Nigerians don’t want to face.
Pot 1: Brazil and Germany
Nobody wants to be drawn against the top two footballing nation in the world. Germany and Brazil are currently the highest ranked sides in the world. And rightly so. Both nations flaunt perhaps the strongest squads at the moment and will definitely be a force at the competition.
Pot 2: Spain and England
Who wants to come against the teams with the best football leagues in the world? Account to UEFA association club coefficient, the Spanish La Liga and English Premier League are the best on the continent. Not only that, both are unarguably among the best in the world at the moment.
Pot 3: Denmark
On paper, Denmark seem an easy team but in reality, they are not. The Danes are one of the most improved sides in the world – reflected in their 12th position on FIFA rankings. Moreover, many Nigerians are yet to recover from the shock of losing 4-1 to the Scandinavian nation in 1998.
