Super Eagles forward Odion Ighalo has congratulated Saudi Arabia on recording an impressive victory against Argentina on Tuesday at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The 33-year-old immediately took to Instagram to celebrate the victory after the full-time whistle. “Congratulations Saudi Arabia,” he wrote.
Ighalo plies his trade in the Saudi Pro League with Al Hilal. He played in the 1-1 draw with Ghana which ensured Nigeria did not qualify for the World Cup.
Saudi Arabia won 2-1 against Argentina with Messi as captain in the group’s opening game.
Messi opened the scoring with a penalty in the 10th minute. However, two goals in four minutes from Saudi Arabia in the second half ensured victory for the Middle East nation.
Argentina had several goals disallowed in the first half. They were however toothless in the second 45 minutes.
The strong start for Saudi Arabia means they have put themselves in a good position to progress from the group which also has Mexico and Poland.
