Moses Simon was ruled out of the FIFA World Cup on Sunday by the Super Eagles’ medical team.
The Genk star is nursing an injury which will keep him out of action for the next three weeks.
Simon, 22, was a sure bet to make the trip to Russia, having become an influential member of Gernot Rohr’s team.
“The nature of his injury is such that he won’t be recovering quickly enough to make the World Cup,” the German said.
Nigerians were unsurprisingly shocked by the news and stormed to Twitter to have their say.
John Mikel Obi missed 2010 WC in South Africa due to last minute injury ..Echiejile missed the last one in Brazil also due to last minute injury ..now it’s Moses Simon ..injury to footballers is a painful part of their profession

For a third straight @FIFAWorldCup, @NGSuperEagles have lost a player through injury (Moses Simon) on the eve of the tournament, only that this time around, the casualty hadn’t officially made the final 23-man squad.
