Freestyle wrestler Odunayo Adekuoroye on Tuesday celebrated the posthumous birthday of her mother.
The 29-year-old shared a video and photo of herself on a balcony with her mum’s photos on Instagram.
The post shows the athlete dressed in black as she continues mourning her mum.
“A mother’s passing away is one of the hardest things to go through. It’s a traumatic event that’s likely to have a significant impact on a child’s life, no matter the age. (Iyami) you were the first person I thought of when I woke up this morning,” she wrote.
“I remembered that today is your birthday, but I am so sad 😭 you are no longer with us. Regardless, I am still satisfied that you are happy in Heaven 🥰 HAPPY POSTHUMOUS BIRTHDAY MY LOVELY MOTHER. I LOVE AND MISS YOU SO MUCH ( Abiamo tooto).”

Adekuoroye announced her mother’s death on social media on November 12.
She said her mother died three weeks before her announcement.
“My dear mother, I miss you so much, you death brings tears to my eyes every single day. I wish for a second chance. please if you are giving another chance to come back to this world let me have you as my baby, I promise to take good care of you,” she wrote.
Adekuoroye asked members of the public for understanding, prayers and privacy.
