Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has mourned with the senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, over the death of his mother, Comfort.
In a statement on Friday by the governor’s spokesman, Onogwu Muhammed, Bello said he received the news with ‘rude shock’ and described the loss as heavy on not just the state but the country.
Melaye and Bello have not been in good terms since the governor assumed office in 2016.
“Words are insufficient to condole one on a mother’s death, but I do urge you to take solace in the life that she lived,” Bello said.
“I have no doubt that mama’s impact and reach will continue to be felt through her offspring.
“On behalf of the great people of Kogi, my family and myself, I offer you our deep condolences.”
The governor also prayed for grace for the family to bear the loss, adding that the family should convey plans for her funeral to the state government.
