Wednesday, May 4, 2016 made it four years since former Super Eagles forward, Rashidi Yekini, died in a rather tragic manner in Ibadan, Oyo State, South West Nigeria.
The lethal striker will forever be in the heart of football followers.

- He started his professional football career in 1982 with Shooting Stars of Ibadan, where he scored a whopping 45 goals in 53 appearances.
- He scored his first goal for the Super Eagles at the age of 21 on 6 April, 1985.

- Yekini scored Nigeria’s first ever World cup goal in at USA 94 against Bulgaria.

- Yekini is the highest goal scorer for Nigeria with 37 goals in 58 appearances.
- He started his professional football career in the National league and ended it in the National league with Gateway FC in 2005.
