Media personality Yeni Kuti has expressed her disapproval of actress Ngozi Ezeonu for rebuking young aspiring actresses who showed up to an audition dressed in crop tops and without bras.
Speaking on TVC’s Your View, Yeni argued that it was unnecessary for Ngozi to criticise the ladies publicly.
She suggested that even the actress might have worn more daring outfits in her youth.
“It wasn’t any of her business. All she had to do was reject them, that’s all,” Yeni stated.
“We older people tend to forget what we did in our youthful days.”
Ngozi celebrated for her roles in Nollywood classics like Glamour Girls and Living in Bondage, had earlier condemned the dressing choices of some aspiring actresses at the Lagos audition.
She declared that she would disqualify anyone dressed inappropriately.
“Who are you trying to impress?” Ngozi questioned, adding, “That’s why people see us as unserious. I’m a serious-minded actor; you can’t catch me dressed like this, even when I was your age.”
Ngozi further emphasised that inappropriate dressing at auditions tarnishes the reputation of Nollywood actors as professionals.
Filmmaker Ego Boyo later defended Ngozi’s stance, highlighting the importance of maintaining professionalism by adhering to appropriate dress codes during auditions, which she likened to job interviews.
