Musician Yinka Ayefele has set up a new FM station in Ibadan, Oyo State capital called Tiwa-n-Tiwa 106.5FM Radio.
This brings the total number of Yinka’s radio stations to eight namely: Fresh 105.9 FM (Ibadan), Fresh 107.9 FM (Abeokuta), Fresh 106.9 FM (Ado-Ekiti), Fresh 104.9 FM (Osogbo), Fresh 105.3 FM (Lagos), Fresh 102.9 FM (Akure), Blast 98.3 FM (Ibadan), and Tiwa-n-Tiwa 106.5 FM Radio (Ibadan).
The 55-year-old in an interview with reporters revealed that the take-off of Fresh FM Lagos came about two years ago, reports City People.
Yinka said, “I felt fulfilled because we have about eight stations in about five cities in the southwest part of Nigeria. Coming to Lagos is like a homecoming.
“We are trying to operate in a network station, but at the moment we are operating independently. Ibadan is operating independently.
“Osogbo is on its own. Ibadan is on its own. Abeokuta is on its own. Akure is on its own. Ekiti is on its own. At the moment we are operating independently but hopefully, we intend to apply for a network licence.
“We are working on that. But I will prefer for all stations to stand on their own. That is what I will rather prefer instead of recycling the same content in about eight stations. I will prefer for every station to be independent. Different contents on different stations.”
