Yeni Kuti, sister of Afro beat star Femi Kuti, has requested a birthday party from her brother who clocked 60 on Thursday.
The 61-year-old wished Femi who is currently on a music tour a happy birthday in a video she uploaded on Instagram.
She said: “Happy birthday Ambassadorial welcome to 60. Femi Kuti at 60, we are happy for you, we are sad that you’re not here but you’ll come back and meet us here at that party you must do it for us. Happy birthday enjoy your tour, congratulations, and welcome to the land of the elderly.”
Afro beat singer Seun Kuti also joined his sister in celebrating Femi. He stated that the joy inside him cannot be expressed in words alone, adding that the celebrant’s leadership has been of immense value to his family.
He wrote: “60hearty cheers to the King. Words escape me on this great day because the joy inside of me can’t be expressed in words alone. Your dedication to your craft and your leadership have been of immense value to your family and the world at large. We celebrate the one true king @femiakuti on this most joyous of days. Arararara!!!!
Yeni Kuti’s partner Theo Lawson also celebrated Femi in an Instagram post.
“Femi Kuti@60. Let’s celebrate a Creative, Activist, Father, Mentor, Friend, In-law and Legend. May 60 bring joy, blessings, peace and liberation,” he wrote.
A retiree from active dancing, Yeni co-manages the Afrika Shrine with her younger brother Femi Kuti.
She also appears on Your View, a popular morning programme on TVC anchored by Morayo Afolabi-Brown.
The daughter of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti has been in a long relationship with Mr Lawson, an architect and director of Freedom Park in Lagos.
