Actress Mercy Aigbe has narrated how she helped her colleague Nkechi Blessing gain grounds in the Yoruba movie industry, saying the latter walked into her office in tears eight years ago.
The 44-year-old said this in an Instagram post on Monday as she recalled how Nkechi came to the limelight.
According to Mercy, Nkechi came crying to her as she lamented her challenges in the movie industry. Mercy noted that she encouraged her colleague and spoke to some filmmakers who featured both movie stars in the film Omoge Lekki, bringing Nkechi into the movie spotlight.
Sharing the poster of the movie, Mercy wrote: “@nkechiblessingsunday I can never forget the day you walked into my office ( precisely 8 years ago ) crying and talking about how hard it was to make it in the industry and you were getting discouraged…I remember telling you, you are a star and encouraged you not to give up!
“I called @hibeebaba and @officialafeezowo, spoke to them about you and we made the blockbuster OMOGE LEKKI…..I am so proud of your growth and super excited about THE RETURN OF OMOGE LEKKI. God speed my darling”
Reacting in the comment section of the post, Nkechi expressed gratitude to her colleague for making her a star.
“This Woman Kaii heaven knows I cannot trade you for anything. If they are counting star makers, you should be number one on that list. May God continue to bless the work of your hands love you, mama,” she wrote.
