President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has celebrated former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on the occasion of his 68th birthday, describing him as a close ally, friend, and brother.
In a heartfelt message on Saturday, President Tinubu extended his congratulations to Professor Osinbajo, who served as vice president of Nigeria from 2015 to 2023 under President Muhammadu Buhari.
The president commended Osinbajo for his dedication to public service, highlighting his harmonious partnership with President Buhari to deliver good governance and critical infrastructural projects for the country. Tinubu also recalled Osinbajo’s outstanding leadership during his brief stint as acting president while Buhari was on a medical vacation in the United Kingdom.
“Professor Yemi Osinbajo will always remain my friend and associate. He served our country meritoriously as Vice President to that patriotic leader, President Muhammadu Buhari,” Tinubu said. “He made all of us in the All Progressives Congress proud by working collaboratively and harmoniously with the president without rancour.”
Tinubu reflected on their longstanding relationship, noting Osinbajo’s invaluable contributions as attorney-general and commissioner for justice during Tinubu’s administration as Lagos State governor.
The president also acknowledged Osinbajo’s democratic right to contest against him for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket in 2023, affirming that the political rivalry did not affect their friendship.
Tinubu extended his warm wishes to Osinbajo’s family, particularly his wife, Dolapo, and their children, as well as friends and associates. He prayed for many more years of good health and continued success for the professor of law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
