Olubadan of Ibadan Oba Olalekan Balogun has appeared to endorse Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for the 2023 presidency.
The monarch spoke during a visit by Osinbajo on Thursday at the former’s Alarere Palace in Ibadan, Oyo State.
“Very soon, hopefully, in God’s name, you’ll be president of Nigeria,” the Olubadan said.
The first-class monarch had earlier hosted another APC presidential aspirant Bola Tinubu who was Osinbajo’s boss in the early 2000s when Tinubu was Lagos State governor.
Osinbajo left the palace around noon and went to the Ibadan Civic Center where he met with his support groups and key members of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo state.
The meeting observed a minute silence for three former governors of Oyo State: Lam Adesina, Abiola Ajimobi, and Adebayo Alao-Akala.
Some of those who were at the meeting are Teslim Folarin, the senator representing Oyo Central; Niyi Akintola, a senior advocate of Nigeria; Babafemi Ojudu, the special adviser to the president on political matters; and Isaac Omodewu, the Oyo State chairman of the APC.
Osinbajo declared his intention to run for president on the platform of the APC two weeks ago.
