The story of a young lady Esther Nwadike who was called to the Nigerian bar on Wednesday at the age of 24 has gripped many across the nation especially on social media.
Unconfirmed reports claim she is the youngest Nigerian lawyer to be called to bar.
An indigene of Okigwe, Imo State, Ms Nwadike told BBC Pidgin that she completed her secondary education at the age of 15, not 13 as reported by many media platforms.
Nwadike said she applied to study law at the age of 16 at Abia State University (ABSU) but was admitted to study political science.
In the process, she said a director in the school suggested to her parents that she should go to India to study law.
“That was how I left to study law in India at the age of 17. I had to start all over again. I had already spent one year in ABSU but I had to start all over again,” she said.
Nwadike returned to Nigeria in 2019 on completing her study in India and was admitted to the Nigerian Law School for her bar part one programme which she successfully passed.
