Youths burn Davido’s poster over deleted ‘offensive’ video

Some youths have taken to the streets of Maiduguri, Borno State capital to express their anger towards singer Davido, who posted on social media a video clip that they found offensive to Islam.

A video shared on social media on Tuesday shows a group of people believed to be Muslims tearing and burning Davido’s poster.

Davido faced criticism from Muslims after he shared a music video of his signee Logos Olori.

In the now-deleted video, some people pose as Muslims praying before suddenly launching into dancing.

Many prominent Nigerian Muslims, including Bashir Ahmad, former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari; Senator Shehu Sani; and actor Ali Nuhi earlier asked Davido to take down the video and apologise.

The singer eventually bowed to pressure after 48 hours and deleted the controversial video, but did not apologise.
