Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has been named senior special assistant to Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, on creative and entertainment media
Yul, 36, son of Nollywood legend, Pete Edochie, made the announcement in a post to Instagram on Friday.
According to the former governorship candidate in Anambra state, he is full of thanks to Willie Obiano for trusting in him and he won’t let his people down.
“I thank His Excellency Chief Dr. Willie Obiano(Akpokue Dike) Executive Governor of Anambra State for appointing me SSA to the Governor on Creative & Entertainment Media. Thank you, sir, for seeing the zeal in me to serve the people and believing in me. Special thanks to Ndi Anambra, Ndi youth for your support and prayers, I will not let you down,” he wrote.
The Nollywood actor polled just 145 votes in the 2017 Anambra governorship election.
Yul stated in a chat with Punch in 2017 that he did not feel bad about the outcome of the election.
He said, “I don’t feel bad about it because it is all politics. A lot of things were done not to favour me, to make sure that I don’t raise my head high. I’m not really angry about it. Even though we did not win, I feel like we won for the Nigerian youths.”
Last month, the actor announced he was running for the office of the president in the 2019 general election.
Yul has starred in movies such as Unstoppable, My Loving Heart, Mysterious Family, Passion of a Prince and The Affectionate Wife.
