The national president of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Emeka Rollas has debunked rumour that veteran actor Zack Orji has died.
Rumour that the actor has passed on started circulating on the internet on Tuesday.
However, the AGN president shut down the speculation in an Instagram post on Tuesday in which he described the rumour as ‘fake news.’
He wrote: “Mr Zack Orji is alive Please ignore misschief makers who enjoy circulating fake news. This is to show how wicked some people can be. It is totally unacceptable.@actorsguildofnigeria @abkingyakub@k8henshaw He will not die but live to declare the good works of God in Jesus name.”
This comes a few days after another veteran actor, Amaechi Muonagor, passed away due to kidney failure.
Zack, 64, slumped on December 29 2023 and was admitted to the intensive care unit of the National Hospital in Abuja, before he was transferred to a private hospital for surgery.
Hannatu Musawa, the minister of art, culture and creative economy who visited the ailing actor, revealed that he had undergone brain surgery. She also sympathised with the actor’s family, describing him as a national asset.
“God will heal him and he will be well. We will do all we can to support him. We solicit the collective prayers of Nigerians because he is like a part of our families. We have watched him entertain us and we see him as a national treasure. So the best we can do is to ensure that we support him to have the best treatment,” she said in parts.
Zack Orji is married to actress Ngozi Orji.
They have three children together.
