Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has called for action against the rising trend in the abduction of students especially in the northern part of the country.
His statement came in the wake of the abduction of over 300 schoolgirls from Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in Talata-Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Friday morning.
Murray-Bruce urged the authorities to stop the trend, saying abduction has become a form of entrepreneurship in Nigeria.
“The abduction of 300 schoolgirls from Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in Talata-Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State is deeply saddening. Abduction suddenly seems like another form of ‘entrepreneurship’ in Nigeria. This must stop!” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, dozens of students and workers of Government Science College in Kagara, Niger State who were abducted over a week ago are yet to be released.
Niger State Governor Abubakar Bello on Thursday raised alarm that the state had been abandoned by the Federal Government on the rescue effort.
